The only concern in growing iris is the provision of well drained soil to prevent the roots from rotting.

Mulching the soil around the plant will also help in preventing growth. Iris is a low maintenance type of plant that is so easy to grow. They are separated when transplanting. There are regular irises that can make good cut flowers with their tall and strong stalks.

This type of iris can grow better on flower beds and around the rock gardens. When they are planted, the roots are below near the surface. The roots can easily be separated and replanted. They look like long, lean potato with roots at the bottom.

It does not have to be the richest soil in the yard nor does it require a lot of fertilizer or plant food. Dwarf irises grow smaller about less than 8 inches high. They can grow from both seed and root separation.

Irises are the easiest to grow in your backyard. It has a lot of different colors and combinations that can grow perennial. Like all the other plants, they need full exposure. Make sure to provide enough space about 1 foot long to allow the roots to fill in the spaces rapidly.

They can also endure partial shade.
