The average TV set is fast approaching 40 inches.

Even the larger units only weight around fifty or sixty pounds and they don't take up space, especially if they are mounted. But new flat screen technology has changed all that. How did they get so big so fast. It is easier because these new devices take up a lot less room than the traditional cathode ray tube (CRT) television set.

 Two new technologies have made it cheaper and easier to purchase large screen sets. These antiquated monsters took up several square feet of space and weighed several hundred pounds. But more important than the number of sets may be the size of these sets.
